This is the tent we used during the fall hunt. We were searching through the storage room in the office, and Joe pulled out this huge orange bag. I was thinking, wow, that can’t possibly be a tent - but it was! It is called an Arctic Oven tent (http://www.alaskatent.com/) and it was pretty awesome. We set it up inside first just to make sure we knew what we were getting ourselves into. It was very easy to set up, and has plenty of space to stand up, hang clothing to dry and move around in. The crazy thing is that it had never been used! We set it up on an platform abandoned by an exploration company, so we had quite the set-up at camp. It also came with the stove (pictured above). I wasn’t sure how it worked, but we asked around and we were told to definitely bring the stove - and we were so happy we did! You had to split the wood very small, but the tent heated up in a matter of minutes and was toasty warm. There is just something so comforting about having a space where you can really warm up. The stove only burned for an hour or so after we went to bed, but it was warm enough outside (in September) that we didn’t get too cold during the night. In the morning it was pretty easy to start up a fire (especially if Joe did it!). I would highly recommend this type of tent if you are going to be spending time in the mountains.
